EK NAYANAR MEMORIAL GOVERNMENT COLLEGE ELERITHATTU
Started in September 1981, E.K. Nayanar Memorial Government College, Elerithattu, stepped into its academic ventures by offering five degree courses in different streams and one P.G course in Applied Economics. The prime force that worked behind the realization of the college project was the strenuous and concerted efforts of the people in the Elerithattu locality and the neighbourhoods.The college was affiliated to Kannur University. Situated at Elerithattu, the college is of convenient access to the people of the four panchayathssurroundingit namely, West Eleri, East Eleri, KinanoorKarindalam and Balal. All these panchayaths, the main beneficiaries of the college, are relatively backward due to remoteness from coastal towns (Kanhangad andNileshwar) and the district headquarters (Kasaragod).
The college has 18.57 acres of land in its possession. This includes 1260 m2 for college building, women facility centre and IT complex and 1410 m2 for residential buildings. Construction of women’s hostel and library and auditorium complex will utilise another 1500 m2 land. This shows that there is a vast area still unutilised for further development (construction and sports activities).
The college has a collection of 19224 books, 84 fully functional computers and 23 Laptops. 50 % of the computers have broadband connectivity under NME-ICT scheme. The college also has EDUSAT facility providing the educational advantages of the technology to the students.
The projects of ladies hostel, science block and Library cum Auditorium building construction are in tremendous progress.Further the free unbuilt area of the land in the possession of the college is quite advantageous for planning further developments such as play grounds, courts, new academic blocks and necessary infrastructural facilities.
